Los Angeles Football Club has advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup, a significant opportunity for the team to clinch another major victory.
LAFC needs to add the U.S. Open Cup to its collection despite winning the MLS Cup, Supporters Shield, and Western Conference. Yesterday, LAFC beat Loudoun United FC 3-0 at the BMO Stadium.
Goals from Timothy Tillman, Cristian Olivera, and new signing Tomas Angel Gutierrez were enough for the Black and Gold to reach the Quarterfinal.
LAFC are Favorites
LAFC may have beat Loudoun United and Las Vegan Lights, but the Black and Gold have not faced an MLS Club so far. This season, Atlanta United, FC Dallas, Seattle Sounders, and Sporting Kansas City are in the competition, but they are not having a good season, which is a massive advantage for LAFC.
With the U.S. Open Cup within their grasp, this season presents a golden opportunity for LAFC to add another trophy to their collection. The team’s momentum is strong, and the stage is set for a potential silverware win.
LAFC has the players to win the U.S. Open Cup
Although LAFC is having a tough season in the MLS and the squad is changing, it still has the players and quality to win. Cristian Olivera has scored five goals in the last four games. Denis Bouanga is getting back in form, scoring two goals against St. Louis.
Tillman has been a critical player in the midfield and scored five goals in all competitions. Overall, LAFC has the ingredients to win this competition for the first time. LAFC may not have the best back four, but they can handle the opponent’s attack
So far, LAFC is still waiting for their next opponent in the U.S. Open Cup, as there are still games left to play.
