Denis Bouanga’s impressive hat-trick of assists, Cristian Olivera’s brace, and Mateusz Bogusz’s fourth goal of the season showcased LAFC’s dominance, earning them a well-deserved three points against the formidable Vancouver Whitecaps with a 3-0 victory at BMO Stadium.
LAFC is now in fifth place, with 18 points, four behind Real Salt Lake City and two behind rivals LA Galaxy.
After a tough loss against the San Jose Earthquakes at PalPal Park 3-1, LAFC needed a reaction and return to winning ways.
At the moment, no team in Major League Soccer, whether they are on or off form, can’t beat LAFC.
They put their foot on the gas on Saturday to get an early goal. But the Vancouver Whitecaps goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka was saving his team in the opening 15 minutes of the first half.
But Takaoka and the Whitecaps were overwhelmed by the LAFC attack, and the Black and Gold executed perfectly. Eduard Atuesta found Bouanga on the left side of the field, sending the ball inside the area, and Olivera scored from close range.
LAFC dominance continued and doubled their lead through Olivera’s following a Bounaga dribbling masterclass and finding Olivera.
In the second half, LAFC wanted to end the game by adding a third goal. Omar Campos started a counterattack with a long ball pass to Bouanga, who yet again dribbled past the Whitecaps defender before picking out Bogusz in the center of the six-yard box for his fourth goal of the season.
Not only was the LAFC attack excellent, But Hugo Lloris also put on a show on Saturday night. The World Cup winner made four saves and got his third clean sheet and his first since March 23.
Even though LAFC has a good home record, it’s time to get three points away from home.
So far, LAFC hasn’t won a game away; the Black and Gold lost four games and were drawn to Portland Timbers.
LAFC travels to Saint Louis and takes on St. Louis this Wednesday, May 15. It’s time to break the shell and win away this season.
