The Los Angeles Football Club starts the MLS 2025 season with a 1-0 victory against Minnesota United Football Club at BMO Stadium on Saturday, February 22.
After a disappointment in the CONCACAF Champions League against the Colorado Rapids, 2-1, at the DSG Park, the Black and Gold started the MLS season with a win, a fresh team, and three points in the bag.
LAFC’s start to the game in the opening 15 minutes was terrible. The ball was given away many times, and the team nearly conceded two goals.

The Black and Gold remained struggling, but thankfully, the Minnesota United attack wasn’t effective throughout the match. Kelvin Yeboah failed to find the net and couldn’t break a weak LAFC backline despite hitting the post.
In the second half, LAFC started to play better and create chances. Following great attempts from Denis Bouanga, David Martinez, Olivier Giroud, and the rest of the LAFC attack, LAFC new signing Jeremy Ebobisse got the score sheet with a curling finish.
Not only the new signing Ebobisse deserves credit, but let’s also give credit to Hugo Lloris, who made two saves in the afternoon to collect his first clean sheet of 2025 and earn the win.
