PREVIEW: Los Angeles Football Club Faces Off Against New York Red Bulls

April 21, 2024 by Los Angeles Sports Nation

After a tough draw against Portland Timbers, Los Angeles FC is gearing up for a crucial match against the New York Red Bulls at the BMO Stadium this Saturday.

The LAFC season seems to be hitting a rough patch.

The New York RB, currently in solid second place in the Eastern Conference, has had an impressive 15 points with Inter Miami.

This sets the stage for a potentially tricky match for the Black and Gold. The Red Bull players Lewis Morgan and Dante Vanzeir, who are having the best start to the season, will be the ones to watch. Morgan has six goals this season, while Vanzeir has six assists.

The Red Bulls also have Emil Forsberg, an experienced player who played for RB Leipzig. The 32-year-old will bring quality with his speed and effective passing style. He is a creative playmaker renowned for his ability to create chances and assists.

LAFC has to be prepared defensively this Saturday and stay focused for 90 minutes. This season, LAFC conceded 12 goals. However, LAFC can find a victory, as the Black and Gold are unbeaten at home in 2024.

LAFC can win, though, if the black and gold score first and the game is controlled without mistakes. Otherwise, the Red Bulls can punish LAFC and win three points. New York Red Bulls play a high line, and LAFC has to find a solution since Edwardo Atuesta will be out for the game due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

This year, LAFC conceded two goals at home, which is a positive outcome. The LA Galaxy, having an outstanding season, couldn’t break the LAFC’s backline. Aaron Long will be key since he played for New York before joining LAFC.

Jesus Murillo has to be on top of his game. Although he has a presence and is strong, Murillo’s decision-making and intelligence will be key to beating the New York Red Bulls.

In attack, Mateusz Bogusz needs to be sharp in front of goal. He scored two goals against Portland Timbers last week. Bogusz will experience a tough season since LAFC main star Carlos Vela is a free agent this year.

Bogusz, Denis Bouanga, and Cristian Olivera must perform well every week to get LAFC back on top.
