The Major League Soccer competition is a thrilling roller coaster ride. Messi’s Inter Miami CF and FC Cincinnati have been impressive in the Eastern Conference table, but their dominance is being challenged. Real Salt Lake, with former LAFC player Cristian Arango, and Los Angeles FC are making a solid push in the race for the Supporters Shield, adding an element of unpredictability to the season.
Not to be overlooked are the LA Galaxy and Minnesota United FC, who are in the mix and just five points behind Real Salt Lake. Two New York teams, the New York Red Bulls and the New York City FC, are also in the running, trailing by six points.
Eight teams are in the hunt for the Supporters Shield, but LAFC’s story is one of resilience and improvement. Despite a rocky start to the season, the Black and Gold have begun to turn the tide. Last month, they returned to their best, winning five games, keeping five clean sheets, and scoring nine goals.
The biggest boost for LAFC was beating Saint Louis and Atlanta United, snatching six points away from home. Denis Bouanga and Mateusz Bogusz deserve credit since they scored the goals away. But of course, let’s not forget the LAFC defense and Hugo Lloris, who kept the team clean sheets.
But now, despite having a two-week break, LAFC must keep the ball rolling on and off the pitch. LAFC travels to Orlando to face Orlando City before heading to Austin to face Austin FC. Now that LAFC has Oliver Giroud, it’s time to expand the squad and add more quality players in the summer.
