Los Angeles FC earned their first point against Sporting Kansas City with the score 0-0 at the BMO Stadium on Saturday, March 9.
After a tough defeat versus Real Salt Lake last week in the snow LAFC needed a response. However, it wasn’t their day and the Black and Gold are now in 8th place with four points.
Going into the game LAFC could not handle the pressure of Sporting KC and failed in the final third. Sporting KC did well defensively, doubling up on Denis Bouanga who hasn’t scored a goal this season.
Both sides managed 16 shots and six on target, but none of them was able to find the net over the 90 minutes. LAFC news signings David Martínez and Omar Campos grew into the game but were unable to make a difference.
However, the man of the match was goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who made six saves to earn his first-ever clean sheet. In Addition, the 2023 MLS Golden Boot winner also didn’t perform well even though he tried to score.
Bouanga managed with a team-high five shots including two on target. LAFC new signing David Martinez made his LAFC home debut in the match replacing Ilie Sanchez in the 78th minute.
Eduard Atuesta is one appearance away from reaching his 100th regular season game in an LAFC shirt. Carlos Vela, Latif Blessing, Diego Rossi, Jose Cifuentes and Diego Palacios are the only players to play more than 100 regular season games.
LAFC will be back on Saturday, March 16 when they travel to face Minnesota United. Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City faced the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, March 16.
