Los Angeles Football Club is in another semifinal, this time in the League Cup, and beat the Seattle Sounders 3-0 at Lumen Field on Saturday, August 17.
The Black and Gold is having a blast as LAFC knocked out three MLS teams in this competition. LAFC beat Austin FC 2-0 in the round 32, destroyed 4-1 against the San Jose Earthquakes, and recently beat the Seattle Sounders 3-0.
LAFC will play the Colorado Rapids at the BMO stadium this Wednesday, August 21. If they beat Colorado Rapids, LAFC will play two familiar faces: Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew, two teams LAFC has played in the MLS Cup final in the last two years.
Recap
LAFC not only beat Seattle Sounders last Saturday but a month ago, LAFC beat Seattle Sounders 3-0 away in the MLS.
The Black and Gold were bright and alert for nearly 90 minutes and should have scored more. Although the Seattle Sounders had good moments, LAFC was the better team overall.
LAFC caught the Sounders napping at the back, and Ryan Hollingshead took the advantage and scored past Stefan Frei.
On a set piece, Veteran Kei Kamara scored the goal with a half-volley after a terrible clearance by Seattle Sounders defender.
In the 53-minute game, Hugo Lloris found Denis Bouanga and finished the game with a close-range finish.
Can LAFC win the Leagues Cup?
Out of the four competing teams, LAFC is the favorite to win the League Cup. LAFC destroyed Mexican team Tijuana 3-0. In the knockout rounds, the Black and Gold beat Austin 2-0, destroyed San Jose Earthquakes 4-1, and beat Seattle away 3-0.
LAFC kept three clean sheets and conceded three goals. The defenders must concentrate, and Hugo Lloris’s experience will help.
As for the attack, LAFC has the power to destroy teams, as shown this season in the MLS and League Cup.
Oliver Giroud, Denis Bouanga, Mateusz Bogusz, Cristian Olivera, and Kei Kamara have been exceptional this season, especially in the last month.
