Los Angeles Football Club ended its 2024 preseason game last Saturday afternoon in a friendly versus Toronto FC at the LAFC performance center. The Black and Gold won 1-0 thanks to Denis Bouanga.
However, Bouanga’s goal was more luck than skill, as the 2023 MLS Golden Boot winner benefited from a deflection from Aimé Mabika.
This final game of the preseason with a victory it’s important. because the first game of the regular season is against the Seattle Sounders this Saturday. The players will be fresh and confident ahead of the game.
Overall this 2024 preseason hasn’t been good for LAFC, the Black and Gold lost two and won two. Los Angeles FC beat Toronto FC 1-0 and Chicago Fire 3-1 and lost to Saint Louis 1-0 and Nordsjælland 3-1. LAFC scored five and conceded five which is average but what is most important are the players that played the four games.
In the game against Toronto LAFC news signings Hugo Lloris played as well as Omar Campos who played 90 minutes. Denis Bouanga played despite rumors of him leaving in January. Eddie Segura, Cristian Olivera, and young player Nathan Ordaz played as well.
However, the player who did not feature in the preseason was Eduard Atuesta, who starred for the club between 2018 and 2021 and was re-signed last week following a successful two-year stint in Brazil.
That’s the key for us is we’ll have many different looks and different ways to play teams,” Steve Cherundolo said. “[Atuesta] is another way for us to break them down and manage the other teams’ strengths.”
Despite not being a good preseason the new signing showed what they are going to bring to the table ahead of the 2024 MLS season.
