After nine months of not playing in a Black and Gold shirt, Carlos Vela could return to Los Angeles Football Club.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Los Angeles Football Club and Carlos Vela have a new contract for the player to return.
Carlos Vela, the first player LAFC brought, scored 78 goals, 98 in all competitions, and made 152 MLS appearances and 187 in all competitions. Last season, he didn’t perform well, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
His best season was in 2019, when he scored 38 goals, provided 19 assists, and was named MLS MVP.
During his six seasons with the club, he won the 2022 MLS Cup, two Supporters Shields, and two Western Conference playoffs.
Furthermore, Vela won many individual awards, making him the most significant individual season in MLS history.
When Carlos Vela’s contract expired, he was close to joining the San Jose Earthquakes, but the offer didn’t materialize. Mexican teams were also interested in Vela, but nothing concrete occurred.
Although Vela hasn’t played for nine months, he still has his stuff in his locker room. Therefore, it is a sign that the club and Vela found an agreement to play a bit longer for the Black and Gold.
His experience, presence, and leadership will boost the squad, and it would be interesting to see Vela play alongside Olivier Giroud.
Moreover, Denis Bouanga and Mateusz Bogusz have the best seasons, scoring 31 goals.
