Last night, LeBron James became the first member of the career 40K point club in NBA history. The Los Angeles Lakers still are not able to come up with an answer for Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, as Denver won 124-114. Last season, the Nuggets swept the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
While the celebration for James’ impressive feat was shared by many, one Basketball Hall of Famer threw some shade at the 39-year-old prior to the accomplishment.
On the podcast KG Certified, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were discussing if Bronny James, LeBron’s son, would be able to score on LeBron in a hypothetical one-on-one game. Garnett didn’t believe Bronny would be able to, and he gave a reason why they should raise many eyebrows.
KG: Can Bronny get a bucket on Bron ?
Paul Pierce: Yeah for sure
KG: You seen his dad? his dad on that balco, he on that new juice

As seen from the clip on X, Garnett is insinuating that LeBron is taking PEDs, as he continues to produce in year 21 of NBA action.

Still Putting up Numbers as James Nears 40
Next season, James will be in his 22nd year in the NBA. As long as he plays next season, that will tie him for the most seasons ever with Vince Carter. Unlike Carter’s latter portion of his career, James is still stuffing the stat sheet.
Through 54 games this season, James is averaging 25.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.9 assists. His 52.7% from the field is the best of his Lakers tenure. He has connected on 40.8% of his three-point tries which would be a career-best.
After last night’s loss, the Lakers are now 33-29, 10th in the Western Conference. They are three back of the sixth-seeded Phoenix Suns. They would need to move up to sixth in order to avoid the Play-In Tournament.
Does Garnett Believe He’s Juicing or Was it Said in Joking Fashion?
It’s somewhat surprising that what Garnett said isn’t being talked about more. The 2020 Basketball Hall of Famer is known to be one of the best power forwards in NBA history. He won a ring with the Boston Celtics, was named MVP in 2003-04, and won Defensive Player of the Year in 2007-08.
James and Garnett squared up against each other five times during the playoffs in a seven-year span from 2008-14. James’ teams won the series three of the five times. There could still be some lingering bad blood between the two after so many postseason battles.
Back in 2013, two of James’ associates got caught up in the Biogenesis scandal. James became part of the investigation, but no wrongdoing was found on his behalf.
If Garnett was kidding, he didn’t make that evident on his podcast. It will be interesting to see if anything further comes out of this, and if Garnett (or James) will have anything else to say regarding the matter in the future. James will turn 40 years old on December 30.
