Monday Night Hockey: Senators vs Kings
Season Series: Senators 0-1 Kings
How to Watch:
U.S. TV: Fan Duel Sports West; ESPN+
Canada TV: Prime (Canada); RDS2
Time: 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EDT)
This Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions has the Los Angeles Kings hosting the Ottawa Senators. The Kings earned a 1-0 shutout victory over the Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre on November 15. Former Ottawa goalie Anton Forsberg only needed to make 17 saves in the victory. Alex Laferriere was the only one to score a goal in the Kings’ victory.
However, it’s the Senators who have momentum coming into this rematch. Ottawa has won two straight games, while Los Angeles has dropped its last three entering this matchup. The Sens sit in third in the Atlantic Division, while the Kings are fourth in the Pacific Division.
Let’s take a look at the stats and storylines heading into this Monday Night Hockey on Prime showdown. It’s a pivotal game going into the American Thanksgiving holiday.
The Senators’ Story
Ottawa is 6-1-3 in the last 10 games, which means it’s gotten at least a point in nine of its last 10. The Senators recovered from that loss to the Kings with victories over the Anaheim Ducks and the San Jose Sharks to start their West Coast road trip.
Linus Ullmark is the expected starter for Ottawa, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Ullmark has an 8-5-4 record with a 2.95 goals-against-average and a .877 save percentage.
Tim Stutzle leads the team in goals (11) and points (21) so far this campaign. However, Drake Batherson is first in assists with 13 so far this season.
The Kings’ Story
Los Angeles is 5-3-2 in the last 10 games, and this includes a shootout loss to the Sharks and an overtime loss to the Boston Bruins, respectively. The Kings have struggled at Crypto.com Arena so far this season, with a 1-4-3 record.
Darcy Kuemper is the projected starter for Los Angeles and has a 7-4-4 record this season. Kuemper has a 2.38 GAA and a .906 save percentage. He also has a shutout, which he got against the Winnipeg Jets.
Adrian Kempe is first in points with 20 and is tied with Quinton Byfield for first in assists with 13. Kevin Fiala is the team’s leading goal-scorer with nine so far this campaign.
Prediction
Ottawa seems to have gained momentum and is looking for a third consecutive victory to start its Western swing. The Senators are a road team with a 5-3-2 record at this stage of the season. This type of success away from home could be useful in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Los Angeles is trying to find a way to improve its home record, but Ottawa has been playing well as of late. The Senators should record the victory and continue their hot streak on the left coast.
Prediction: Senators win 4-2.
Prop Bets of the Night
Let’s close out this Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for this game is 5.5, and we like the over in this game.
As for individual props, take Shane Pinto to score an anytime goal for the Senators. On the Kings’ side of things, take Anze Kopitar to get the over on 0.5 assists in this game.
