NHL Predictions with the Los Angeles Kings vs the Philadelphia Flyers

Time: 12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)
How to Watch: NBC Sports Philadelphia, FDSNW, ESPN+, SN1, SN+
Location: Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Kings’ Storylines
The Kings have points in 10 of their last 13 games, helping them maintain their spot in the Western Conference Stanley Cup Playoff race. That said, a 6-4-4 this month isn’t completely inspiring.
At 57 points, there’s still time for the Kings to turn things around and get back into a playoff spot. They sit two points out of both third in the Pacific Division and a Western Conference Wild Card spot. The Kings also are tied for the second-fewest regulation wins in the NHL with 14.
Adrian Kempe continues to be a primary source of offence. Kempe has 18 goals and 41 points to lead the team. Offence as a whole has been hard to come by for the Kings. Their 2.58 goals-per-game ranks 29th in the NHL.

Flyers’ Storylines
The struggle continued for the Flyers with Thursday’s loss in Boston, their third straight and 10th in the last 12 games. Like the Kings, the Flyers are at 57 points in the standings, but the outlook for them looks far different.
Instead of a two-point margin to be back in playoff position, the Flyers are eight points back of third place in the Metropolitan Division and 10 points out of a wildcard spot. In short, another season is slipping away quickly.
One Flyer who has been on fire lately is Travis Konecny. After recording a hat trick in a loss in Columbus on Wednesday, Konecny opened the scoring in Boston. At the time, Konecny had scored seven of the last 20 goals for the Flyers, dating back to January 17th.

Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction: Kings 3, Flyers 2
The Kings had a six-game points streak snapped on Thursday, and will be looking to get right back to gaining points in a tight Western Conference Playoff race. The Flyers are just looking for anything to stop the freefall, and at this point, it might take reaching the Olympic break to do it. Give the Kings the edge in this one.
For best bets for the Kings, take Quinton Byfield for a goal. Byfield has seven points in seven career games against the Flyers.
For the Flyers, ride the hot hand and take Travis Konecny for an anytime goal. Konecny has 16 goals in his last 27 games dating back to December 3rd.
