Two big Los Angeles Kings prospects are set to take on the biggest stage they’ve played on.
Forward Liam Greentree and goaltender Carter George have been selected to participate in training camp for Team Canada as they prepare for two games coming up.
Both have previous experience in international play.
The training camp roster consists of 15 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders. The roster was chosen by National Junior team GM Alan Millar, head scout Byron Bonora, and Mark Hunter. Team Canada will host two pre-tournament games against Team Sweden: December 17 in Kitchener, Ontario, and December 20 in London, Ontario.
The tournament will take place December 26-January 5 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and St. Paul, Minnesota. The games will be played at the Xcel Energy Center (Grand Casino Arena) and the 3M Arena at Mariucci on the University of Minnesota campus. Team Canada lost the quarter-finals in back-to-back years.
George is 10-9-2 with a 3.12 goals against average and a .899 save percentage for the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He has a season high of 41 saves against the North Bay Battalion on October 13, and his only shutout thus far came against the Barrie Colts on October 15. The Kings’ second-round pick (#57) in 2024 has led Owen Sound to second place in the Midwest Division in the Western Conference with a 17-12-0-2 record. He is one of six returnees from last year’s fifth-place team (McKenna, Beaudoin, Ivankovic, Luchanko, Martone).
Greentree has been on fire with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, racking up 15 goals, 14 assists, and 29 penalty minutes in 22 games this season. He had a season-high four points on three goals and one assist against the Flint Firebirds on November 2. His play has been outstanding, putting Windsor in first place in the West Division of the Western Conference with a 20-6-3-1 record. Both George and Greentree won Gold at the 2024 IIHF U18 men’s world championships.
Training camp will take place December 12-15 in Niagara Falls.
The team will be coached by longtime London Knights coach Dale Hunter, associate coach Misha Donskov, and assistant coaches Brad Lauer and Gardiner MacDougall.
