November 5, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome back to another NHL Predictions. Each day, our writers here at Last Word on Hockey look at the games and give in-depth analysis. Our team breaks down the key matchups, storylines, and stats, then makes predictions based on how they might play out. For this edition, we will look at the Utah Mammoth taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Don’t forget to check out more NHL Predictions, as our writers continue this series throughout the 2025-26 season.

NHL Predictions

Utah Mammoth vs Toronto Maple Leafs

2024-25 Season Series: Mammoth 0-2 Maple Leafs

How to Watch:

U.S TV: Utah16; ESPN+

Canada TV: Sportsnet

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

We open NHL predictions with our featured game between the Mammoth and Maple Leafs. Utah is expected to go with Vitek Vanecek in goal, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Mammoth stopped a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. Team captain Clayton Keller pocketed his fifth goal of the season to seal the victory.

Toronto is expected to counter with Anthony Stolarz in goal for this game. The Maple Leafs have won two straight games and are hoping this will lead to some more consistency. William Nylander is first in assists (13) and points (18) despite missing a couple of games due to injury. However, Auston Matthews is first in goals with seven so far this campaign.

Utah is coming off a tough game against Buffalo on Tuesday. Toronto should get the win.

Prediction: Maple Leafs win 4-2.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Calgary Flames

2024-25 Season Series: Blue Jackets 1-1 Flames

How to Watch:

U.S TV: Fan Duel Sports Ohio; ESPN+

Canada TV: SN West, SN1

Time: 9:30  p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Our second game of NHL predictions will be an emotional one between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames. It’s been over a year since the passing of Johnny Gaudreau, but both fan bases still feel his loss. Jet Greaves is the expected starter for the Blue Jackets, who lost last time out. However, Columbus is 6-4 in the last 10 games. Kirill Marchenko is either first or tied for first in goals, assists, and points.

Calgary is expected to start Dustin Wolf, who is enduring a sophomore slump. The Flames are off to a dreadful 3-9-2 start to the season. However, the team did win in their last outing. Calgary is the worst team in the league in terms of scoring, averaging 2.14 goals per game. Nazem Kadri is the only player with double-digit points so far this season.

There will be plenty of emotion, but the Blue Jackets should get the win.

Prediction: Blue Jackets 5-2.

Chicago Blackhawks vs Vancouver Canucks

Head-to-Head: Blackhawks 0-1 Canucks

How to Watch:

U.S TV: Chicago Sports Network; ESPN+

Canada TV: SN Pacific

Time: 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Chicago Blackhawks visiting the Vancouver Canucks. Spencer Knight is the projected starter for the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard visits his old stomping grounds. Bedard is leading the team in assists (10) and points (16) so far.

Thatcher Demko is the expected starter for the Canucks, who are 5-5 in the last 10 games. Vancouver is still looking for steadier play to get some momentum going. Conor Garland is tops in assists (8) and points (11), while Kiefer Sherwood is first in goals with none.

Chicago has lost three straight coming into this one, and it won’t get any easier against Vancouver.

Prediction: Cancuks win 4-2.

Prop Bets of the Night

Let’s finish out our NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. We’ll go back to our featured game for our favourite props. The over/under for the Mammoth versus the Maple Leafs is 6.5, and we have the under.

As for individual props, go with Logan Cooley to score a goal for Utah at any time. On the Toronto side, take John Tavares to get a power-play point.
