Alaric Jackson, Los Angeles Rams, Agree to Contract
Alaric Jackson earned his latest contract following what is likely the best season of his career. Starting and appearing in 14 games, the former undrafted free agent protected quarterback Matthew Stafford all season long and finished the year with a 78.4 PFF grade, the 18th-best mark out of 81 eligible tackles. The Rams themselves had a strong season, winning the NFC West and making it to the NFC Divisional Round before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jackson originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2021 NFL Draft. Signing with the Los Angeles Rams, the Iowa product hardly saw the field, appearing in just four games without making a start. However, even though he wasn’t a big part of the team, he still earned a Super Bowl ring for helping the team take down Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 2022 season was one to forget for the Los Angeles Rams, but Jackson’s breakout was a silver lining on the season. Playing at right guard and left tackle, the Iowa product provided invaluable versatility and finished the season with a 64.1 PFF grade. The Rams themselves couldn’t defend their titles, as a wave of injuries forced the team to miss the postseason.
Jackson used his breakout season to earn the full-time job as the Rams left tackle in 2023. Starting and appearing in 15 games, the former undrafted free agent helped the Rams overcome their low regular season expectations and make the playoffs. Unfortunately, their postseason run was short-lived, as they went one-and-done against the Detroit Lions.
Since signing his rookie contract, Alaric Jackson has appeared in 41 games while making 35 starts.
