Rams QB Stafford will now miss the first 2 weeks of training camp at least
The Rams initially said that Matthew Stafford would only miss the first five days of training camp, but the timeline was extended on Saturday the timeline was extended, as Sean McVay told reporters that the quarterback will now sit out all of next week too. The idea that Stafford’s availability against the Houston Texans in Week 1 could be in doubt is now becoming a legitimate concern for Rams fans.
Matthew Stafford will not practice next week, McVay said.

McVay clarified his comments by indicating he misspoke at the start of camp and that Stafford’s status will be considered a “week at a time”.
That’s a turn from when McVay said Stafford would start practicing – previously he said he felt “pretty good” that the QB would only miss the first block of camp. https://t.co/np5XnmUOkQ

Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo has operated the first-string offense in Stafford’s offense. The Rams are acclimating a couple new, key pass catchers ahead of the regular season, mainly Davante Adams and rookie Terrance Ferguson. How long can Stafford sit out before the team risks a lack of chemistry with receivers into Week 1?
The last time that Stafford missed games due to injury was 2022, a disaster of a season for Los Angeles. The Rams started a respectable 3-3 but then lost six games in a row and shut Stafford down for the rest of the season en route to a 5-12 finish.
If Stafford is not 100% by Week 1, his back injury combined with a history of back injuries and his age will sound the alarm bells for L.A.’s quarterback and a fan base that has at time questioned why the organization has not done more to insure the position. Garoppolo is one of the most experienced and successful backups in the NFL, but nobody wants to see him start over Stafford this season and that’s looking more and more realistic with each practice that he can’t participate in.

yeah he was talking up Gorrapollo yesterday on Kay Adams show. I thought he was laying it on kinda thick. Now I know why.

This is really concerning. This is really gonna piss me off if he’s hurt all year considering they turned down first round picks for him
