Even though most of free agency has come and gone, as has the 2025 NFL Draft, there are still plenty of moves that could be made to improve the Los Angeles Rams prior to the start of the 2025 season. One potential move would be a reunion with former star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey spent four seasons with the Rams, playing a big role on the team’s run to the Super Bowl in 2021, before the team traded him to the Miami Dolphins in 2023. Now, the Dolphins are ready to move on from Ramsey and the Rams are interested in reacquiring him.
Head coach Sean McVay recently spoke on this in an interview with Mad Dog Sports Radio, saying that the conversations with the Dolphins are ongoing and the Rams are always looking at ways to add great players to the roster:
“There’s not too much of an update. He is a total stud and you look at, obviously he has continued to play at a really high level. He and I have kept in great touch even since we ended up trading him to Miami. Special competitor, great person, great father. And so there are a lot of layers when you’re talking about a player of his caliber – ‘All right, with regards to the contract, the compensation that they would be looking for in exchange for receiving a player of his magnitude.’ And so those conversations are ongoing, as I’m sure they are with multiple teams. And we’ll see, but we’re never going to shy away from opportunities to increase the competitiveness of our roster or add great players as long as it fits within the framework of everything that an acquisition like that would entail.”
Ramsey remains one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and started all 17 games for the Dolphins last season, finishing with 60 tackles, six tackles for loss, 11 passes defensed and two interceptions. Cornerback is certainly a need for the Rams so their interest makes sense, but as McVay noted, what it would take to acquire Ramsey matters as well.
Whatever the final outcome is, it likely won’t be coming anytime soon as it would benefit the Dolphins to wait until after June 1 to make a deal as it would lower their cap hit.
Rams’ running back Kyren Williams expects 2025 to be his best season
While a potential Jalen Ramsey addition would help the secondary, one area where the starter is locked in is at running back with Kyren Williams, who had a career-year in his third season. And he expects next year to be even better.
In a recent interview, Williams said that he is determined to make 2025 his best season ever and feels he hasn’t touched his peak yet. Williams added that he is looking to improve in all facets whether it is running the ball, catching out of the backfield and pass blocking.
