Sean McVay Credits Rams Players For Responding Well To Travel Plans For Jaguars Matchup

The Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay have earned a reputation for bucking normal trends around the league.

The most recent example of this is the Rams and McVay decided to stay in Baltimore after their Week 6 game against the Ravens and prepare for their Week 7 London matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the East coast. Not only that, but the the team flew to London on Friday night, not giving themselves much time to rest and recover from potential jet lag.

It seems that the travel worries were unfounded as the Rams wound up blowing out the Jaguars 35-7 in their most complete two-way effort to date. Los Angeles was without Puka Nacua, but the offense was still able to explode for points while the defense shut down Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars running game.

Following the win, McVay praised his players for being able to adapt to the travel and put forth their best effort, via Sarah Barshop of ESPN:

“I think it’s a tremendous credit to really our players and their mental toughness and their resolve and their understanding of, ‘Hey, it is a different time clock. Let’s not make it a bigger deal,’” McVay said. “Let’s be ready when the game kicks off to show up. Let’s do everything within our control, but let’s not waste our emotional or mental energy on things that we can’t control.”

The organization completely transformed Oriole Park at Camden Yards to suit the Rams for practice throughout the week, a massive undertaking that took months to prepare and plan for. The equipment managers loaded up several trucks to bring all the items and resources the players normally have at the training facility, ensuring their preparation week would proceed business as usual.

With a normal week to prepare for Jacksonville, the only obstacle McVay and his players would need to overcome is fatigue. They completely answered the bell and then some as they took control of the game early on and never let up.

Los Angeles has plenty of time to rest and recover as they head into their Week 8 bye. The deserved break will be good for McVay and company as they gear up for the second half of the 2025 season.
