Rome Odunze Injury Update: Bears WR Speaks On Availability Against Rams

January 19, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze is battling through a stress fracture in his foot, but it sounds like the former first-round pick plans on playing through the injury. In a recent interview with the press, Odunze said that it was “tough” to manage the pain last week, but he’s going to “play through it” against the Los Angeles Rams.

Rome Odunze Injury Update: Bears WR Plans On Playing Through Stress Fracture

This isn’t the first time the injury bug has bitten Rome Odunze, as the former first-round pick only played in 12 regular season games. While on the field, the Washington product recorded 44 receptions for 661 yards and six touchdowns while sharing the field with Chicago’s loaded pool of offensive talent.

It’s hard to call the first year of the Ben Johnson Era anything other than an undeniable success. Inheriting a last-place team, Johnson and first-overall pick Caleb Williams overcame an 0-2 start to the season to finish 11-6 and at the top of the NFC North. Famous for their last-second comebacks, Williams and the Bears erased a 21-3 halftime deficit against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round to advance to the Divisional matchup against Los Angeles. Rome Odunze played a part in the comeback, catching two of his six targets for 44 yards despite the injury.

If the Bears defeat the Rams, they’ll face the winner of the Seahawks-49ers game for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Led by Sam Darnold, Jaxson Smith-Njigba, and an elite defense, the Seahawks have the top seed in the conference. The 49ers, meanwhile, continue to win games despite enduring an absurd amount of injuries throughout the season. If Chicago wins their next two games, it will mark the first time the team reached the Super Bowl since the 2006 season. In that game, Rex Grossman and the Bears lost to Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts.
