The Ravens, Saints could steal Chiefs potential free agent target cornerback, Marcus Peters this season. According to Bleacher Report, they believe Peters could sign soon to give him one more run in the league and the Kansas City Chiefs could be one of the best landing spots for him. Originally selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Washington product was one of the highest cornerback selections in the league. He started all 16 regular season games, recording 60 total tackles, 26 pass deflections and eight interceptions.
The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro has been earning his strides before suspension issues were catching up to him. Peters’ issue resulted in a trade to the Los Angeles Rams and was still an efficient disruptor in the secondary. However, he’s been slowing down since landing with the Ravens in another trade where he suffered a torn ACL in 2021 where he was never the same athlete that everyone remembers. Peters’ recent performance may raise questions about his effectiveness in the league but he’s a low-stakes addition for any team like the Ravens, or Saints to suggest bringing him in.
The veteran might not be the same anymore but he could be a reliable ball-hawk in a depth role. He won’t be a superstar signing or something to address the long-term issues for teams with a struggling secondary, but he may have one more run left him before he hangs up his cleats.

A Reunion in Baltimore?
The Baltimore Ravens have everything going right in their offense putting up big points on the board. However, the defense is still being shredded every week which shows why each matchup for the team seems to be closer than they were expecting. An addition like Peters for Baltimore’s secondary would make sense for both sides considering the chemistry they have. They’re in dire need of a new cornerback despite trading for Tre’Davious White before the trade deadline, they could use Peters in a depth role.
He doesn’t need to be a full-time starter but since Brandon Stephens is having one of the worst seasons this year, Peters might be able to break that curse. With a hold of breath, Marlon Humphrey is back to playing effectively but they could use the depth to help support their playoff aspirations. Peters isn’t going to change anything about this team’s secondary but making one or two plays in some possessions would be viable enough. Meanwhile, Kyle Hamilton is banged up and rookie Nate Wiggins is going through growing pains, so any veteran presence could make them a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
One Last Chance
The New Orleans Saints season may be over as the team is 3-7 but they’re not mathematically out of the playoffs. It seems easier for the team to tank but they might not do so despite firing Dennis Allen. However, they need some immediate help in their secondary room since trading Marshon Lattimore to the Commanders. There’s no word on if they’ll bring back Paulson Adebo after suffering his season-ending injury.
Perhaps, they could roll the dice on a veteran like Peters to get some momentum going. Adebo will become a free agent next offseason and there’s no word if he will be back. This would leave rookie Kool-Aid McKinstry to carry the woes.
