Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 6/28/25
This is maybe the most Random Ramsdom I’ve ever put out, but I can’t be sure as I’ve put out more than a few, regardless, would Kirk Cousins (current backup quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, for now) ever want to try his hand at being an offensive coordinator?
I had a dream the other night (no, I am not making this up) and I was talking with Cousins (who I’ve never met) and I had told him with his connections to Sean McVay, maybe McVay would be willing to take Cousins under his wing, if Cousins wanted. I don’t know, it’s just a random thought for a Random Ramsdom.
We’ve seen quarterbacks becomes OC’s before, so could Cousins join that list? I doubt it, but hey, why not?
Hope you have a great weekend as we gear up for July 4th. Please comment on whatever you want and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

Matthew Stafford must improve in key area if Rams offense is going to be among NFL’s best (ramswire)
“Matthew Stafford has just 44 touchdown passes in the last two seasons, which is only one more than Joe Burrow had in 2024 alone. Stafford is still playing some excellent football but his lack of scores has been somewhat surprising.
A big reason for his underwhelming touchdown numbers is the offense’s struggles in the red zone. Last season, Stafford completed only 16 of his 39 pass attempts (41%) from inside the 10-yard line. There were only three quarterbacks with at least 20 pass attempts inside the 20 who had a lower completion rate than Stafford.
It wasn’t much better in 2023, either. That year, he completed just 23 of 45 (51.1%) of his passes inside the 20.”
The Rams Face an Unfortunate Possibility (si.com)
“This offseason, Stafford was initially noncommittal about returning before making it clear that he wanted a raise and more guaranteed money in his contract.
“Will his mindset change now that he’s started considering the end of his career? And while there is no shortage of young talent on this Rams roster, Stafford is at the center of it all. Father Time is coming for him.”
Stafford is entering his 17th season in the league, a mark very few players have ever hit, especially quarterbacks. The Rams hope to make at least one more Super Bowl before Stafford retires. The veteran quarterback noted how his preparation changes every season.”
Looking ahead to SNF on Week 12.

Rams’ WR Puka Nacua is Elite as They Come (si.com)
“Nacua missed five games in 2024 but still led the league in target rate against man coverage (40%) and yards after the catch (211). He caught 29 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns against such coverages, in addition to moving the chains 18 times. Nacua was the only receiver outside of A.J. Brown to force double-digit missed tackles (10) on man-coverage targets,” Gray said.
“Nacua earned a 90.4 zone PFF receiving grade in his rookie 2023 season and followed that up with a 92.3 mark in 2024. He saw 71 zone targets at a rate of 36%, the highest in the league, and caught 55 passes for 706 yards and a touchdown.”
