Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/23/24
The Los Angeles Rams have been without Tyler Higbee since he was seriously injured against the Detroit Lions in the playoffs last year. The tight end returned to action Sunday against the New York Jets, and his impact was felt by the team emotionally and on the scoreboard.
Higbee in his big return caught a go-ahead score to help secure another win for L.A.
The players were happy to have Higbee back, and fans of the Rams should be happy as well. Higbee returning from injury is a great story. It’s a story made even better for the team and for the fans with the win.

Matthew Stafford’s TD pass to Tyler Higbee after Aaron Rodgers’ turnover leads Rams past Jets 19-9 for 4th straight win (nbclosangeles)
“Tyler Higbee waited nearly a year for this moment.
And once the Los Angeles Rams tight end had the ball in his hands, he wasn’t letting anyone stop him from getting into the end zone.
With the game tied against the New York Jets early in the fourth quarter Sunday, Higbee caught a short pass from Matthew Stafford, rumbled down the sideline and dived over the goal line for a go-ahead 11-yard score in the Rams’ 19-9 victory.”
Rams’ latest playoff odds after win vs. Jets, losses by Cardinals and Seahawks (ramswire)
“Entering the week, the Rams had a 72% chance to make the playoffs. They were unquestionably in control of the West heading into Week 16, but their grip on the division got even stronger.
With their win and losses by the Cardinals and Seahawks, the Rams’ playoff odds sit at 83%, according to NFL.com. If Los Angeles can beat the Seahawks in the season finale, they will clinch the division.
In all likelihood, a win over the Cardinals on Sunday night will secure a playoff berth for the Rams, as long as they don’t lose a tiebreaker based on strength of victory in the event that they’re tied with Seattle.”
Two NFC West teams out, leaving one for Seahawks to worry about (sports.mynorthwest)
“The Rams took care of the New York Jets 19-9 in chilly New Jersey to improve to 9-6, guaranteeing they will own at least a share of the division lead going into Week 17. The Arizona Cardinals, meanwhile, lost to the Carolina Panthers 36-30 in overtime, dropping their record to 7-8 and officially eliminating them from playoff contention. And the San Francisco 49ers (6-8) suffered the same fate before they even kicked off Sunday afternoon against the Miami Dolphins, as the Washington Commanders’ stunning 36-33 win over the Philadelphia Eagles eliminated the defending NFC champion Niners from the race for an NFC wild card.”
