Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 10/13/21
Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp is on pace for a career season after a great start in the first five games. Kupp was drafted in the 2017 class by the Rams in the third round. He was the seventh receiver taken off the board and has been a top ranked receiver in major categories for much of this season. After five games, Kupp ranks second in receptions and touchdowns and third in yards. That’s when compared to all receivers in the NFL. Let’s have a look at how he’s ranking among receivers in his draft class, particularly those that were taken ahead of him.
The six receivers that were taking ahead of Kupp in order were: Corey Davis, Mike Williams, John Ross, Zay Jones, Curtis Samuel, and Juju Smith-Schuster.
When ranking only this class of receivers for their 2021 season stats after the first five games, here is where the Ram’s third round pick lands.
1st in total receptions – Kupp is leading in total receptions with 37. He is a rank above Mike Williams with 31.
1st in total yards – Kupp is leading in total yards with 523. He is a rank above Williams with 471.
1st in yards per game – Kupp is leading in average yards per game with 104.6. He is a rank above Williams 94.2.
2nd in touchdowns – Kupp is second in touchdowns with five. He is second only to Williams with six. The third ranked receiver is Davis with three.
Kupp is making a name for himself this season as one of the best in the game and has certainly proven to be among the best in his class. But factoring in his draft position in the third round, the value added would make him the unquestioned best in his class.
