Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 10/12/21
The Los Angeles Rams are 4-1 at the quarter mark of the season. We now have five games of play to see what the 2021 Rams are all about, at least to start anyway. Things we’ve seen from the offense include, Matthew Stafford throwing the deep ball to three different receivers, Cooper Kupp as one of the best all around receivers in the league, and the offensive line playing as good as any.
What were the three best offensive plays of the first five games? Here are a few candidates.
Rams vs Bears – Stafford to Van Jefferson 67 yard Touchdown
The fact that this was the first score and first big play of the Stafford era makes this one for the short reels. Stafford, Jefferson, and the 2021 Rams offense introduce themselves on this play action deep post. After a great ball by Stafford, Jefferson secures the catch and hits the ground, realizes he’s not been touched by the two nearby defenders, rolls up and finishes to the end zone.

Rams vs Bears – Stafford to Kupp 56 yard Touchdown
Also against Chicago, Stafford and the offense appear on fire as this touchdown pass to Kupp is the second touchdown play of over 50 yards in the first game of the season. Against a two high zone defense, Robert Woods draws one safety down with a mid level hook route, Jefferson on the opposite side gets the attention of the other safety with the help of Stafford’s look off and from the slot, Kupp splits the middle and separates more than 10 yards behind the safeties.

Rams vs Buccaneers – Stafford to Jackson 75 yard Touchdown
With both teams coming in 2-0, LA beats the Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the help of a 75 yard Touchdown strike from Stafford to DeSean Jackson to start the second half. Jackson leverages his speed of course but in this case also his deceitful route running by faking like he’s going to the deep cross under the safety and breaking perfectly to get upfield for the score.
