Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/24/24
The Los Angeles Rams have gone from 1-4 to 9-6 with a chance to win the NFC West. I try to look at this team realistically, and my lens is not always accurate. I share that to say that if L.A. loses their next two games and misses the postseason, then we’ll have plenty of time to talk about: What went wrong?
For now, let’s give credit to what this special group has accomplished. This has been an objectively great job by the Rams, and however this ends the team deserves some praise for the impressive turnaround. They flipped the switch on a season that looked lost.

It’s never easy and it’s not yet decided, but if L.A. can officially clinch and make the dance, then who knows what will happen? Unlike so many other sports the NFL features playoffs that involve one game as opposed to a series of games. If you get in, then you have as much a chance as anybody to win it all.
L.A. to this point has delivered a successful season. The team and fans will see how far they can go. In the meantime, hopefully everyone can enjoy the holidays, and as always, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!
Rams’ Playoff Chances Skyrocket After Road Win (si.com)
“The Rams’ win and the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, and San Francisco 49ers’ losses on Sunday were everything the Rams could have asked for. Los Angeles now sits atop the NFC West, with home games against the Cardinals and Seahawks coming up next.
Ben Rolfe of Pro Football Network noted how Sunday’s win did for the Rams’ playoff hopes.
“With all three NFC West teams losing in Week 16, the Rams control their own destiny, as any scenario where Los Angeles gets to 10.5 wins will give them the NFC West title and a home playoff game on Wild Card Weekend,” Rolfe said.”
Making an impact on + off the field.

First Look: Rams host Cardinals in primetime Saturday night showdown in Week 17 (therams.com)
“According to Joe Ferreira, who handles official scenarios for the NFL, the Rams clinch SOV over the Seahawks if they get 3.5 wins from the following teams: Saints (tonight only), Bengals, Commanders, Bills, 49ers, Vikings and Browns.
Ferreira also says they can clinch SOV tie/SOS win with a win, a Saints win tonight only, a Bengals win, a Commanders win and 1.5+ wins from the Colts and Seahawks. Or, with a win and 2.5 wins from the Saints tonight only, Bengals, Commanders and 0.5 wins from the Bills, Browns, Vikings and 49ers plus wins by the Colts and Eagles.
Obviously, that’s quite a few tie-breaking headaches. In short, the simplest path to clinching this week would come from an assist from the Bears – who play the Seahawks on Thursday night football – and keeping this win streak going.”

How the Rams’ Defense Turned It Around in Week 16 (si.com)
“The Los Angeles Rams went to the East Coast to face the New York Jets in Week 16. The Rams pulled out a massive win in the Big Apple. The Rams are a step closer to clinching the NFC West. It was not pretty in the blistering cold, but the Rams got the job done. It was a happy flight home to Los Angeles.
Once again, the Rams’ young defense showed up and showed out. The defense was able to stop veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver Davante Adams, and the rest of the Jets offense. They forced multiple turnovers, and the offense took full advantage of them, in the second half. It was a come-from-behind win for the Rams.”
Kyren Williams is a mean one.

Random Ramsdom Fandon: Eric Dickerson’s record (By San diego ramman on Dec 23, 2024)
“Lot of sports talking heads are talking about Barkley breaking ED’s record. The holy Grail of records can not count as being broken if it takes an extra game to do it. It’s crazy to me that people can think otherwise. If he does it in the same amount of games as ED then it is broken but not if it takes more it freakin isn’t!
And no freakin asterisk!”
