Random Ramsdom: Cooper Kupp doesn’t trust Sam Darnold in this area, yet

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 6/16/25

This is just a fun little detail I picked up on over the weekend, but Cooper Kupp, no longer with the Los Angeles Rams and now with the Seattle Seahawks, has been getting to know Seattle’s new quarterback Sam Darnold, and I’d guess they are getting along fine, but one area of expertise that Kupp is questing Darnold on is Darnold’s food choices.

Kupp has such a subdued sense of humor, I miss him already but am equally excited to see what Davante Adams can do.

Seahawks vet Cooper Kupp zings Sam Darnold’s ‘6-year-old’ dinner choices (si.com)

“‘The way it came off was like he wanted to go get some fries and chicken strips… And like, look, I have a 6 year old. I can bring you his food. I can bring that and I’ll go eat something good… But it ended up being fine. He ventured out and was at least willing to try some stuff. … I may have misread him. We’ll see. Time will tell.”

Funny. For the record, Kupp is only three years older than Darnold, but the difference between what a 28 year old will eat and a 31 year old can be a vast ocean. What matters is that they put in the extra reps together on the field to get their chemistry going before Week 1.”

It’s a fun little story after what was hopefully a nice Father’s Day for many. Happy Monday, thanks for checking out Turf Show Times, and you know the drill! Comment away! We love hearing from you!

Cooper Kupp brilliantly explained how defenses have evolved, largely because of Sean McVay (ramswire)

“From his frequent use of jet motion to his heavy reliance on 11 personnel to the way he values joint practices over preseason games, a number of teams have borrowed ideas from McVay and the Rams since his hiring eight years ago.

McVay was hired by the Rams in the same year that Cooper Kupp was drafted, so the wide receiver has seen firsthand how impactful McVay has been. The now-Seahawks star was recently on a radio show and he talked about how NFL defenses have evolved – largely because of how advanced and dominant McVay’s offenses were early on.”

Rams Have One of NFL’s Best WRs in This Category (si.com)

“Nacua secured 22 of 23 screen targets (tied for third most) for 192 yards and two touchdowns this past season. It was his third-most-targeted route last season (17.1%), and he was highly effective, notching eight first downs, seven forced missed tackles, and 86 yards gained after contact — all top-five figures,” Gray said.

“Nacua also led all receivers in screen threat rate (79.3%) and passer rating when targeted (130.4) while tying for first in explosive gains (five) on such plays. He owns the fifth-best screen PFF receiving grade (85.4) across his first two NFL seasons.”

The Rams hope Nacua can develop even further now that he is on an improved roster and has Adams to learn from.”

We are so sorry to the rookies (kind of)
