Week 15 shows the Rams beginning to climb up the playoff ladder
In what could turn out to be a battle of the walking wounded, the Los Angels Rams fly down the California coast for a Thursday Night Football battle with the arch-rival San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:15.
The Rams are coming off a wild 44-42 home win over the AFC East champ Buffalo Bills. Mathew Stafford has thrown for 3303 yards, 19 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. L.A.’s rush attack has averaged 146 yards over the past two games, Kyren Williams lead the team with 1013 yards and 12 scores. Although missing five games, wide receiver Puka Nacua has 54 receptions for 708 yards and three scores. His bookend, Cooper Kupp, has missed four games and posted 63 catches for 653 yards with six tallies.
In this short-week showdown, the Rams currently dealing with six injuries that may result in no or limited practice. Those sidelined or working on the side include starters C Beaux Limmer (knee), WR Demarcus Robinson (shoulder), TE Davis Allen (shoulder), and CB Cobie Durant (bruised lung). They are joined by rotational players WR Jordan Whittington (shoulder) and DT Tyler Davis (calf). Tight end Tyler Higbee could be activated for Thursday night.
The ‘Niners are not in much better shape. Starters DE Nick Bosa (hip, oblique), T Trent Williams (ankle), S Malik Mustapha (chest, shoulder) haven’t practiced. While rotational players RB Issac Guerendo (foot), OL Ben Bartch (ankle), DT Khalil Davis (knee), LB Demetrius Flanigan-Fowles (knee), DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee), and LB Dee Winters (ankle) limited. San Francisco could get back G Aaron Banks (concussion) and LB Dre Greenlaw (torn Achilles tendon).
In the rivals earlier meeting, the Rams won 27-24 on a last second field goal, even though they allowed the 49ers 425 offensive yards. Can the Rams give up that many again and pull off another victory?
