The Los Angeles Rams made a series of roster moves prior to their Sunday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12.
The team signed safety Tanner Ingle from their practice squad to the active roster, and also elevated inside linebacker Elias Neal and wide receiver Brennan Presley from the practice squad to the active roster.
Ingle originally joined the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has spent parts of the last three seasons with the team despite never appearing in a game. He was a standout in the preseason though and now could get his first opportunity.
Ingle provides depth at safety in the wake of Quentin Lake being placed on injured reserve and could also contribute on special teams.
Neal signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent last year and has appeared in seven games over the past two seasons. This marks the second time Neal has been elevated from the team’s practice squad.
Presley signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent this year and could step in as the team’s kicker returner on Sunday due to Xavier Smith recovering from a concussion. This is Presley’s first elevation from the Rams practice squad.
Baker Mayfield: Rams tenure was ‘pivotal’ in football journey
With the Buccaneers visiting the Rams this week, it marks another opportunity for Baker Mayfield to face one of his former teams.
Mayfield had a brief stint with the Rams in 2022 and notably won his first start just two days after joining the team.
Mayfield believes his time with the Rams helped get his career back on track and realize his potential as a quarterback.
“There is no way for me to sugarcoat it — it was pivotal in my career and in my journey,” Mayfield said. “I’ve told you guys that it helped me find the fun in football again — that joy. And just, getting to learn from those guys. Obviously, it looks a lot different now that Raheem Morris is gone, Zac Robinson [is gone], Liam [Coen is gone], but Sean [McVay has] been there the whole time.
“They helped me out and helped me discover what offense I really want to play in, and the responsibility that comes with [it] — a lot of accountability at the line of scrimmage and to check and get to the right plays. Yeah, it was instrumental in my career, something I am forever grateful for, and it will be fun to go back and see some familiar faces.”
