Rams Sign Quentin Lake To Three-Year Contract Extension

The Los Angeles Rams announced they have signed standout defensive back Quentin Lake to a three-year contract extension.

Lake was a sixth round pick of the Rams in 2022 out of UCLA and has developed into one of their better defensive players and a team captain.

He was expected to hit free agency this offseason but that will no longer be the case now that the Rams have locked him down on a new three-year deal. They recently did the same thing with middle linebacker Nate Landman after signing him to a one-year contract this past offseason.

After signing his new deal, Lake expressed excitement to remain with the Rams:

The safety and slot corner is currently on injured reserve due to an elbow injury but Sean McVay recently revealed that they will open up his 21-day practice window this week with an expected return in the playoffs.

That will be a huge boost for the Rams defense as they have struggled in recent weeks without Lake.

In 10 games before suffering the injury, Lake had 61 tackles, 10 passes defended, one interception and a sack while playing 100% of the defensive snaps that he was healthy for.

In 50 NFL games, including 30 starts, Lake has 235 tackles, 22 passes defended, one interception and four sacks.

Sean McVay says Rams starters will play in Week 18

The Rams don’t have a lot to play for in Week 18 as they can’t win the division and have already clinched a playoff spot. In these situations, McVay has typically rested Stafford and key starters, but that will not be the case against the Arizona Cardinals.

“Oh, we’re playing. They’re playing,” head coach Sean McVay said after the team’s loss to the Falcons.

When asked if the Rams’ poor stretch had anything to do with his decision, McVay said he always envisioned the starters playing against the Cardinals.

“They were going to play anyways,” McVay said. “We need to play. We need to play better football. I don’t know what the consequences are as far as those different types of things, but we’ve got to play better.”
