The Los Angeles Rams signed offensive lineman John Leglue on Wednesday, bringing the total number of players on their active roster to 74.
The Rams had an open roster spot for Leglue, so they did not need to create any space.
Leglue originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Tulane in 2019. However, he was waived before the regular season started and went on to spend most of that season with the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.
Leglue had additional stints with the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. His most recent NFL action came during the 2023 season, when he appeared in one game with the Falcons.
Before that, Leglue played in six games (five starts) with the Steelers during the 2021 season. He also spent the majority of the 2024 season on Pittsburgh’s practice squad but did not appear in a game.
Leglue has experience at guard and tackle, so his versatility will be valuable in the event the Rams need to tap into their depth on the offensive line.
While he is a long shot to make the team’s initial 53-man roster for the 2025 season, Leglue should have a good chance to end up on the practice squad.
Rams roster moves
The Rams’ signing of John Leglue came one day after the team made several other roster moves.
Among them were signing offensive lineman Mike McAllister, placing outside linebacker Keir Thomas on injured reserve and waiving wide receiver Mario Williams with an injury designation.
McAllister has spent parts of the last two years on the Rams practice squad but did not play in any games during the regular season.
Thomas originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has made 17 appearances over the past three seasons, including both of the team’s playoff games last year.
Williams additionally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent this past offseason and caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in the team’s preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers last week.
