Rams Sign Mike McAllister, Place Keir Thomas On Injured Reserve & Waive Mario Williams

August 20, 2025 by Rams Nation

Mike McAllister, Rams

The Los Angeles Rams made a series of roster moves on Tuesday as they signed offensive lineman Mike McAllister while also placing outside linebacker Keir Thomas on injured reserve and waiving wide receiver Mario Williams with an injury designation.

McAllister has spent parts of the last two years on the Rams practice squad but did not play any snaps in the regular season.

Thomas originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has made 17 appearances over the past three seasons, including both of the team’s playoff games last year.

Williams additionally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent this past offseason and caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in the team’s preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers last week.

It wasn’t specified what injuries Thomas and McAllister are dealing with. In Thomas’ case, it must be serious enough to warrant a stint on IR.

The NFL allows teams to place two players on IR and designate them to return before trimming their roster, so it is possible that Thomas could still play this season.

The Rams don’t have to pare their roster to 53 players until next week, but Tuesday’s moves helped them to inch closer to that number.

L.A.’s active roster now stands at 73, so they will need to cut 20 additional players by the Aug. 26 deadline.

Rams’ Alaric Jackson ‘on track’ in recovery from blood clots

The Los Angeles Rams suffered a scare earlier this summer when they learned that left tackle Alaric Jackson is dealing with blood clots in his leg.

Head coach Sean McVay said the team is focused on Jackson making a full recovery, but didn’t rule out the 27-year-old potentially playing in Week 1.

While that appears unlikely at this point, McVay said Jackson is making great progress and hopes to get him back on the practice field in the near future.

If Jackson is unable to go in the Rams’ regular season opener against the Houston Texans, they will likely turn to veteran left tackle D.J. Humphries, who was signed to a one-year contract during the offseason.
