Rams RT Rob Havenstein ready for start of camp as Alaric Jackson battles blood clots

July 22, 2025 by Los Angeles Daily News

LOS ANGELES — As the Rams prepared to open training camp on Wednesday, they had good and bad news along the offensive line to report on Tuesday.

First, the good. Right tackle Rob Havenstein said he is cleared to be a full participant in practices. The 11th-year tackle missed OTAs following cleanout procedures on both his shoulders, but he said Tuesday he’s hit his goals for strength training, clearing his way to return to the field.

“Feel good, strong, healthy,” Havenstein said. “Feel ready to go play football.”

As for the bad, left tackle Alaric Jackson is still dealing with blood clots and has no concrete schedule to return to action, head coach Sean McVay said.

Jackson, who also dealt with this issue in 2022, was re-diagnosed in June. McVay’s mantra while discussing his treatment plan was “a day at a time.”

Jackson won’t be put on the physically unable to perform or non-football injury lists. He will be able to do some positional work on the sidelines with the training staff and participate in jog-throughs, he is not allowed to partake in contact drills or practices.

“We have a plan in place that we feel like if things go according to plan, feel like that is very real possibility,” McVay said when asked if Jackson could play in Week 1. “I know he is really feeling good, he’s handled this like a total stud and I think the perspective that this stuff gives you where it’s always about the human being first and foremost.”
