The Rams agreed to a one-year deal to bring backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo back for 2025 on Monday, a source confirmed.
Garoppolo backed up quarterback Matthew Stafford up in 2024 in his first season with the Rams. He also started in Week 18 as Stafford rested following the Rams clinching the NFC West. Garoppolo completed 65.9% of his passes in that game, a 30-25 loss to Seattle, throwing for 334 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
The Garoppolo signing was the Rams’ first move after the legal tampering period opened up Monday morning. Head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead expressed interest in retaining Garoppolo last week, but noted he would monitor the market and see if there was a possible starting opportunity available to him.
But within an hour, Garoppolo had decided to return to Los Angeles for a second season.
