Rams News: Sean McVay Addresses Demarcus Robinson’s Legal Situation

Demarcus Robinson has been the perfect third receiver alongside Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua on the Los Angeles Rams.

Robinson doesn’t need many targets to make an impact, but his downfield speed and route running has made him a favorite of Matthew Stafford.

Unfortunately, Robinson ran into legal trouble after he was arrested due to suspicion of a DUI following the Rams’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Head coach Sean McVay recently addressed the incident and acknowledged the reports are true.

“Okay guys, we’ll get started,” McVay said. “Obviously, I’m sure you guys are aware of the Demarcus Robinson situation. I did speak with him yesterday. We’re gathering all of the appropriate information and I’ll let the legal process take place. I do want to acknowledge that we were made aware of it. What you’ve seen out there is accurate. We’ll proceed as we gather more information accordingly.”

McVay also revealed that he had already spoken to Robinson and that he and the team expect more from him.

“Just that he shared what had occurred. Obviously, we expect better from him and then want to continue to gather all the appropriate information with the legal things that are involved in that. Just being made aware of that situation and we obviously have higher standards for what we expect of him and the decision-making process as those things are concerned.”

Lastly, McVay said he found out about Robinson’s arrest on Monday though it wasn’t the reason for his delayed press conference.

“Yesterday I was made aware. That has nothing to do with why we postponed this [press conference]. I was really under the weather for the last couple of days [and] kind of fighting through some different things like that. It’s been a unique set of circumstances over the last handful of days, but yesterday I was made aware at some point in the afternoon.”

There isn’t much information available right now, but this is certainly a situation that bears monitoring given the Rams’ playoff hopes.

Sean McVay unsure if Demarcus Robinson will play against Saints

Demarcus Robinson is a key part of the Rams offense as a third option in the passing game, but Sean McVay was non-committal about his playing status against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13.

“We’re going to see,” McVay said. “I want to be able to gather all the appropriate information before I commit to something one way or the other. I do know that we’ve made the league aware. There’s a process that they go about and then I’ll have more information for you guys as I get the appropriate facts and deal with this in the best way that we think is in alignment with how we want to operate.”

McVay would then give another update on Wednesday saying that Robinson will not be suspended by the team and will be able to play in New Orleans. The legal situation still needs to play out though so it is possible that Robinson still gets disciplined by the league down the road.
