As the Los Angeles Rams work toward their goal of winning another Super Bowl title, the Dodgers recently made the city proud by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2025 World Series.
The Dodgers won back-to-back elimination games on the road to become baseball’s first repeat champion in 25 years.
It capped off a magical season that will see longtime Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw go out on top. The future Hall of Famer previously announced his plans to retire after a legendary 18-year career.
Kershaw played high school baseball with Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and the two remain friends to this day. Stafford said the entire Rams team was pulling for the Dodgers and he was especially happy for Kershaw, via TheRams.com:
“I’m so happy for him, so proud of him. It’s awesome. What a team. A ton of pressure on them coming into the beginning of the season, and, man, that’s not the easy thing to play with, you know, the entire season, and I thought they did a hell of a job… Yamamoto was unbelievable in the series, and really, their whole team had clutch performances from a bunch of different guys, and that’s what it takes to win. It was really cool. We were in the middle of the room last night, everybody watching, and when Rojas hit the dinger, we were all going crazy. We were pulling for them big time. It was fun to watch and that was the shortest team meeting before a game. We like ran up in the top of the tent, ran back down the bottom of the tent to see it, see it all go down. It was a lot of fun.”
It’s cool that the Rams were so invested in the Dodgers winning the World Series and further illustrates the strong support that L.A. teams have for each other.
The Rams will now look to follow in the Dodgers’ footsteps by delivering another championship to L.A. At 6-2, the Rams sit atop the NFC West standings and are well on their way to another playoff appearance under head coach Sean McVay.
Bill Belichick compares Rams’ Matthew Stafford to Tom Brady
Matthew Stafford continued his MVP-caliber season in the Los Angeles Rams’ 34-10 win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
He completed 24 of 32 passes for 281 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The performance came on the heels of Stafford tying a career-high with five touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
The 37-year-old now leads the NFL with 21 passing touchdowns, 106 first downs and an average of 268.4 passing yards in eight games this season.
During a recent episode of SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go!” podcast, legendary head coach Bill Belichick compared Stafford to arguably the greatest quarterback of all-time in Tom Brady due to his improved level of play at an older age.
