The Los Angeles Rams look likely to get a big return on the offensive line for this weekend’s divisional round game against the Chicago Bears as guard Kevin Dotson could be back on the field.
Dotson has been out since Week 17 after suffering an ankle injury in the Rams’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
In the play itself, Dotson was stepped on by Seahawks linebacker Derrick Hall, but the Rams lineman didn’t realize this at the time. Dotson thought that he sustained the injury simply by being run into on the play, but now that he has seen what really happened, he plans on getting some revenge in a clean mannaer, via Stu Jackson of theRams.com:
“Because I gave him the benefit of the doubt,” Dotson said. “Because my teammates were like – I’m thinking he accidentally stepped on me, and I’m not going to make nothing out of it. And then I’d seen after the play, my dawg (center) Coleman (Shelton) fought for me, pushed for me, then he told me like what really happened and stuff like that. So I was like, okay, and if I would have knew that, I probably would have stood up. I didn’t know somebody stepped on me and did all that until I had seen the film and stuff. But I would’ve knew that. … I’m past it, I’m not going to hold nothing against him until I can see him (and) get my get-back. Not gonna step on nobody (though), I’ll get it between the (whistles). But I’m fine, I’m fine.”
Hall was suspended one game for the incident, so the league clearly felt his actions were intentional. Dotson wanting a bit of revenge is fair, but as he said, he will keep any retaliation within the rules of the game and confines of the football field.
That could happen as soon as next week as the Rams and Seahawks would face each other for the third time this season if both teams are able to advance in the playoffs. As such, the focus for Dotson and the Rams must be on taking down the Bears so he can have the chance to put Hall in his place and help push this team to the Super Bowl.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford ‘good to go’ vs. Bears
There was a bit of injury concern coming out of the Rams’ wildcard win over the Carolina Panthers as quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a sprain to his index finger. However, it looks as if Stafford is just fine and will be ready to go against the Bears on Sunday.
