The Los Angeles Rams improved to 2-0 with a 33-19 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, led in part by Davante Adams’ big day.
The veteran receiver caught a 16-yard touchdown pass — his first with the Rams –with just under 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Adams finished with six catches for 106 yards and the touchdown. In doing so, he became the 32nd player in NFL history to reach 12,000 career receiving yards.
Adams, who is now in his eighth NFL season, reflected on the milestone and was happy to do it in a Rams’ win, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“It’s much more sweet when you get a dub with it, for sure,” Adams said. “I’ve had a few different ones over the last few years where it’s harder to feel good about it, so obviously, it’s even more easier to celebrate it – not a literal celebration, but to feel good about it definitely. It’s been a long career, so it’s good anytime you can be mentioned with under 100 people is just period, let alone almost top 30 in yards, like, that’s something that means a lot to me, and I know it means a lot to my teammates as well, because it means that I’m out there grinding, trying to do what I can do to help us win.”
Adams joined the Rams on a two-year contract during the offseason and gave them a big playmaker to pair with Puka Nacua, who also had a productive game against the Titans.
The early results have been promising as Adams has caught 10 passes for 157 yards in two games with the Rams so far.
Even at age 32, Adams has proven that he can still be one of the best receivers in the league. He has five straight 1,000-yard seasons, and has caught 103 touchdowns in his career between the Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets and Rams.
