Rams News: Davante Adams Heartbroken After Fifth NFC Championship Game Loss

January 28, 2026 by Rams Nation

Davante Adams, Rams

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams is perhaps the greatest wide receiver of his generation and a future Hall of Famer. But one thing that has eluded him is a Super Bowl Championship as he lost four NFC Championship Games as a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Unfortunately for Adams, he and the Rams came up just short to the Seattle Seahawks in this year’s NFC Championship Game, still leaving him without a Super Bowl appearance in his illustrious career. Adams had a strong showing with four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown, but it just wasn’t enough.

Afterwards, Adams struggled to process the emotions in the immediate aftermath of the loss, but was able to come up with one word to describe his feelings.

“Heartbreak… It’s tough to talk, honestly,” Adams said after the loss.

It is understandable for Adams to feel this way. The goal for every player is to win a Super Bowl so for Adams to have not been able to even make the game despite getting so close on so many occasions has to be extremely frustrating.

Of course, the next question for Adams then turns to his overall future. He just turned 33 years old and has been in the league for 12 years. But with so many emotions swirling in the locker room following another loss, Adams couldn’t focus on his future.

“It’s tough to focus on that right now. It’s tough,” Adams added. “It’s a tough moment we’re in right now so process the emotions of this and then worry about that. Obviously, I love this team, love what this team is about. Love the fight that we had all year. It just sucks to come up short.”

In his first season with the Rams, Adams showed he has plenty left in the tank, leading the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns while finishing the season with 60 receptions for 789 yards. He formed the best receiving duo alongside Puka Nacua and has great chemistry with quarterback Matthew Stafford as well. Should he choose to return to the Rams, and he is still under contract for another year, this team will be one of the favorites once again and he could finally reach that elusive Super Bowl.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford tells Cooper Kupp to go win the Super Bowl

Adams came to the Rams this season, taking on the role that had previously been employed by franchise icon Cooper Kupp, who would join the Seattle Seahawks. And after the Seahawks topped the Rams in the NFC Championship Game, Matthew Stafford made sure to congratulate his former teammate, and tell Kupp to go win the Super Bowl.
