The Los Angeles Rams opened the 2025 season with a 14-9 win over the Houston Texans at SoFi Stadium and now are preparing for their first road game against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
The upcoming matchup represents a homecoming for outside linebacker Byron Young, who played part of his college career at the nearby University of Tennessee before being selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Young said he is looking forward to returning to Tennessee and catching up with family and friends, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
“It feels good. I like going back to the South,” Young told theRams.com. “Got some family there, family nearby, family who can come to the game. (It’s) kind of hard for them to come up here to L.A. but just going back, being two and a half hours away from Knoxville, it’s a great feeling, just being close to home and somewhere I grew up, a big part of my life. So definitely excited about going back. I like Nashville.”
Young is only in his third season with the Rams but already has established himself as one of the team’s most important players.
In 35 career games (33 starts), Young has totaled 16.5 sacks, 21 tackles for losses and 34 quarterback hits. With Jared Verse on the other side of the Rams defensive line, Young should once again benefit from a plethora of one-on-one opportunities this season.
Young recorded nine tackles and a sack in the Rams’ Week 1 win over the Texans. It was a great start to the year for Young, who many believe is poised for his best season.
Matthew Stafford’s back ‘feels good’ after Rams’ Week 1 win
As expected, Matthew Stafford under center for the Los Angeles Rams when they began their season against the Houston Texans.
The veteran quarterback was able to get a full week of practice in ahead of the Week 1 matchup. That was significant as Stafford missed roughly two months because of an aggravated disk in his back that limited him for most of training camp and the preseason.
During a recent episode of SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go!” podcast, Stafford said his back feels fine after the Rams’ win over the Texans and is looking forward to getting back on the field in practice.
It’s encouraging that Stafford came out of the regular season opener with only general soreness and appears to have no doubts about playing in the Rams’ next game against the Tennessee Titans.
