Los Angeles Rams legendary wide receiver Torry Holt was one of 15 former players to be named a modern-era finalist for the 2025 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It is the sixth consecutive year Holt has been named a finalist and he is one of three receiver finalists for this class along with Steve Smith St. and Reggie Wayne.
The other finalists are quarterback Eli Manning, running back Fred Taylor, tight end Antonio Gates, offensive linemen Marshall Yanda, Jahri Evans and Willie Anderson, defensive linemen Jared Allen and Terrell Suggs, linebacker Luke Kuechly, defensive backs Darren Woodson and Eric Allen and kicker Adam Vinatieri.
Holt was an immediate impact player for the Rams after being drafted sixth overall in 1999 out of North Carolina State where he was ACC Player of the Year and a consensus All-American as a senior. In his rookie season with the Rams, Holt finished with 52 catches for 788 yards and six touchdowns. He was a big part of the Rams’ run to the Super Bowl that year and was outstanding in the game itself with 11 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in the victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Holt spent 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with the Rams, finishing his career with 920 catches for 13,382 yards and 74 touchdowns. He was named a Pro Bowler seven times while also being a two-time All-Pro with one of those being a first team selection in 2003 when he led the NFL with 117 receptions and 1,696 yards while also adding 12 touchdowns.
At the time he retired, Holt ranked 10th all-time in receiving yards and 13th all-time in receptions.
The modern-era player finalists were chosen by a vote of the Hall’s Selection Committee, a process that started in September with a list of 167 nominees. That group was then narrowed to 25 semifinalists on Nov. 20. The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 will be announced at NFL Honors in New Orleans, La., in February and enshrined in August in Canton.
Rams legend Eric Dickerson doesn’t believe Saquon Barkley will break his rushing record
Another Rams legend has been in the news lately as Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record has a chance to fall thanks to Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.
Dickerson recently spoke about this, noting that he doesn’t feel Barkley will break the record and even added that he isn’t rooting for the Eagles star to break it, but he also won’t be complaining if the record does fall. Dickerson added that he does like Barkley as a player and is happy to see him reach his potential in Philadelphia.
