Rams Left Tackle Alaric Jackson Again Dealing With Blood Clots

June 14, 2025 by Rams Nation

Alaric Jackson, Rams

The Los Angeles Rams made their offensive line a priority this offseason with the biggest move being locking up left tackle Alaric Jackson to a three-year, $56 million contract.

Jackson has carved out a nice career for himself with the Rams after originally signing as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2021. He has developed into one of the best left tackles in the league but originally earned his starting spot as a guard in 2022.

Unfortunately, Jackson was limited to just six games that season due to a serious blood clot issue. He was able to recover and has started 29 games for the Rams the last two seasons, although it appears the issue has popped back up.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jackson is again dealing with blood clots, putting his status for the 2025 season in jeopardy:

#Rams OT Alaric Jackson, a key member of the O-line who just signed an extension, is dealing with blood clots once again, per The Insiders. Similar to what he had in 2022.

While the belief is he’ll play in 2025, there are still questions. That explains the DJ Humphries signing. pic.twitter.com/H3KvgraB3P

The good news is that the Rams caught the issue early, so hopefully Jackson has enough time to recover and be ready for Week 1. Even if he is unable to play at the start of the season, whenever he is healthy enough the Rams will gladly welcome him back to the lineup.

As Rapoport mentioned though, the Rams have done a nice job of adding some depth to their offensive line in recent days, perhaps because they knew what Jackson was dealing with. The team most recently signed veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries and also previously added another veteran in David Quessenberry. L.A. lacked quality depth at the tackle position last season and are clearly making moves to avoid that being the case in 2025.

If the Rams want to have a successful season then they need to keep Matthew Stafford upright, so Jackson’s status will be worth monitoring leading up to training camp and Week 1.

Andrew Whitworth feels really good about Rams’ future

The Rams are one of the few teams who can compete for a Super Bowl title next season and beyond due to the youth and talent of their core. Andrew Whitworth was skeptical of the Rams after their slow start to the 2024 season but now feels really good about their future.
