The Los Angeles Rams struck gold in the 2024 NFL Draft, securing their 1-2 defensive punch of the future in Jared Verse and Braden Fiske — both from Florida State — in the first two rounds. Verse and Fiske are a formidable duo that should lead L.A.’s defense for years to come, and almost did enough to get them past the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional round last season.
However, the elements of that game led to a knee injury for Fiske, one that required a minor procedure when the offseason began. At the time, head coach Sean McVay was clear that it would not affect Fiske’s availability for the 2025 season, but seeing how he came out for training camp was going to be a story to watch.
It seems as though all is well on that front and Fiske has completely recovered from that knee injury, he told reporters and Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:
Speaking to local media prior to last Thursday’s Rams Revealed Live presented by UNIFY Financial Credit Union, Fiske (right knee injury) said that he is “full go” in those Phase 3 workouts.
“I’m feeling great right now,” Fiske said. “Everything went as planned. We’re even ahead of the process now (compared to) where I thought I was going to be. I’m full go right now, moving, doing indy (individual drills), doing everything and feeling great.”
Fiske spoke further on the subject, saying that there is a drastic difference in where he ended the 2024 season versus where he is now:
“Especially from where I left off last season and how I feel going into this season, I feel great,” Fiske said. “I’m ready to roll.”
The Rams are certainly excited to see Fiske at 100% and feeling even better than where he was at the end of last season. He has established himself as a cornerstone piece in L.A.’s defense, and if they are going to make the leap into full Super Bowl contention this season, it’s going to be in part because of his continued development.
Michael Brockers says Rams are biggest threat to Eagles
The Rams looked dead in the water after the first five weeks of the 2024 season as they went 1-4, nearly sinking all hope of a playoff appearance.
However, the Rams turned things around following their bye week and wound up winning the NFC West with a 10-7 record. Los Angeles made light work of the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card Round before heading on the road to face the Eagles.
The Rams wound up being the closest team to beat Philadelphia in the postseason as the latter blew out the Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs en route to winning Super Bowl LIX. Heading into the 2025 season, the Eagles are favored to come out of the NFC though the Rams aren’t far behind them after their successful offseason adding win-now pieces to their roster.
Michael Brockers knows Los Angeles well after spending most of his career with the franchise and expressed his belief that they’ll be the toughest challenge for Philadelphia next season.
