The Los Angeles Rams fell just short in their regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks despite resting several key starters on offense.
Kyren Williams was among the players who did not suit up, which opened the door for Blake Corum to get significant playing time.
Unfortunately for the third-round pick out of Michigan, he only touched the ball three times before fracturing his forearm in the second quarter and missing the remainder of the game.
“Yeah, he fractured his forearm, unfortunately,” Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed after the 30-25 loss in Week 18. “He’s a tough, resilient guy. He’s going to be a really good player for us for a long time but he will miss the postseason.”
McVay added that Corum fractured his right forearm. “I want to say, now that I’m thinking about it when I hugged him, I think it was his right forearm,” McVay said.
The injury is a disappointing development for Corum, who likely would have continued to spell Williams in the playoffs. Instead, the 24-year-old’s rookie season has prematurely come to an end.
Corum rushed for 10 yards on two carries and caught one pass in the Rams’ loss to the Seahawks. He finished the year with 207 rushing yards on 58 attempts and seven catches for 58 yards in 16 games.
The former Michigan Wolverine enjoyed his best performance in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints when he rushed for a career-high 42 yards on eight carries.
Corum didn’t receive many reps behind the workhorse Williams, but steadily saw more snaps as the season progressed. He will look to build on that during his sophomore season in 2025.
With Corum now ruled out for the playoffs, Ronnie Rivers will likely move up on the depth chart as the Rams’ No. 2 running back. Cody Schrader could also get some snaps when the Rams host the Minnesota Vikings during NFL Wild Card Weekend.

Tyler Higbee received the Carl Ekern Spirit of the Game Award, which is given to the player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, ethic and commitment to his teammates.
Higbee was also the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, which goes to a player who is a role model of inspiration, sportsmanship and courage.
