Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams haven’t won a game on Monday in years
The Los Angeles Rams haven’t won a Monday Night Football game since their 2021 Super Bowl winning season. It was a definitive victory as they beat the Arizona Cardinals by a final score of 34-11 to move on to the next round of the postseason. Since that game L.A. has played four Monday evening games, and they’ve lost all of them.
2022:
Week 4: 24-9 loss to the San Francisco 49ers
Week 15: 24-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers
2023:
Week 3: 19-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals
2024:
Week 10: 23-15 loss to the Miami Dolphins
Wild-Card Round against the Minnesota Vikings: TBD
So, whereas Sean McVay is 1-0 in Monday night playoffs games, he’s been 0-4 on Monday Night Football since that clutch win. If McVay and the Rams lose to the Vikings next game then L.A. would’ve lost five Monday games in a row. They also would be 0-2 in the playoffs since winning their Super Bowl a few seasons ago.
The Rams have checked off a major box this year by winning the NFC West. If that is all they hoped to accomplish then the mission is done, but if they aspire for more, they need to break their losing streak in games played on a Monday.
If they are able to manage a win, they will end their Monday game losing streak, while simultaneously starting a new streak of playoff wins.
Not a bad opportunity for a team that started off 1-4.
