It’s looking like Jimmy G-force winds at SoFi Stadium this weekend
Rams fans can all but book it that Sean McVay is going to bench every key starter in Week 18 against the Seattle Seahawks. With the playoffs and the NFC West locked up in L.A., the Rams should be starting Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback in the season finale.
Is this also Jimmy G’s audition to take over for Matthew Stafford if the NFC’s oldest quarterback retires?
Jimmy Garoppolo to Tutu Atwell is exactly what the Seahawks deserve to see next week.
Bench every important starter.

Garoppolo has yet to throw a pass in 2024, and maybe that’s the best thing for the former 49ers starter who has won four playoff games in his career.
That’s the same amount of playoff wins as Stafford.
With an entire year off, Garoppolo has finally stayed healthy and his absence from the field has probably only helped his case as a free agent in 2026. As soon as teams forget why you became a backup, they start to imagine what you could look like in their offense.
Call it “The Sam Darnold Effect” if you will.
Just two years ago, Baker Mayfield’s career was in the gutter when he spent 5 games as the Rams starter with Sean McVay. He rebuilt his reputation on a one-year deal in Tampa Bay and now he’s one of the top starters in the NFC.
Garoppolo is older than those quarterbacks, but not by that much. Especially in quarterback terms.
At 33, Garoppolo could have enough runway left to at least enter a competition in 2025, or he could choose to return to the Rams. How he plays against the Seahawks in his only opportunity this season will go a long way towards answering that question one way or another.
