The Rams expect top cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon to play against the Saints
Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is having a career year for the Los Angeles Rams and setting himself up for a big payday in 2024, but injuries have always been an issue for the former 49er, Steelers player. That issue could have crept up again this week, as Witherspoon suffered a groin injury in Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders, but team writer Stu Jackson reported that L.A.’s top cornerback will be available for Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
With how teammates like Derion Kendrick have played this season, having Witherspoon available in a crucial game as it relates to the wild card race is of vital importance.
Sean McVay said DB Ahkello Witherspoon should be good to go for Thursday night vs. Saints after sustaining a groin injury late in yesterday’s game vs. Commanders.

Witherspoon has three interceptions and 13 passes defensed this year, including two more against Washington in Week 15. He nearly had his fourth interception, also. Witherspoon was signed to a one-year deal as a stopgap option at corner, but he’s played himself into a much more long-term role than that, if the Rams can afford him.
Another injured player expected to be available is receiver Tutu Atwell, who missed Sunday’s game but has cleared concussion protocol.
Sean McVay also says WR Tutu Atwell has cleared the concussion protocol and will play Thursday.
DB Tre Tomlinson has a thigh injury but no clarity beyond that as far as his status for Thursday.
