Rams GM Les Snead doesn’t think Kyren Williams has dropped the ball
Kyren Williams rushed for a career-high 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024 and GM Les Snead has already conceded a little bit of negotiating power by letting the media know that an extension is likely to happen this offseason.
“I think that’s something that’s going to be on the plate,” Snead said, via the team’s website. “He would be someone that after three years you could begin discussing, let’s call it, renegotiating, starting anew. Because I do think Kyren is someone who is a Ram and has a very impactful role for us.”
Williams has been productive as L.A.’s starting running back over the past two seasons, but is also tied for the most fumbles by a running back in that same period of time: 8.
Only Austin Ekeler, Rhamondre Stevenson, and Breece Hall have fumbled that many times since the start of 2023. Williams also fumbled in the Rams division loss to the Eagles and he had another in the wild card win over the Vikings, but it wasn’t reviewed because Puka Nacua recovered.
Stevenson is a good comp for a potential contract extension.
The Patriots gave Stevenson a four-year, $36 million contract before the 2024 season, averaging $9 million per year with $17 million fully guaranteed. Stevenson has a cap hit of $5.5 million in 2025 and $7.6 million in 2026, so those are roughly the cap numbers we could expect for Williams in 2026 and 2027 if he is extended.
