The Los Angeles Rams announced that on Sunday, Nov. 23, they will celebrate the legacy of Aaron Donald. The team will host a halftime ceremony during their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, kicking off at 5:20 p.m. PT.
Celebrations will include an exclusive, limited-edition Donald bobblehead giveaway for the first 60,000 fans in attendance upon entry at gates, in addition to the halftime recognition ceremony.
“Aaron Donald is one of the greatest Rams of all time and we can’t wait to come together with our fans to thank him for everything he’s done for our organization, our city and our game,” said Los Angeles Rams General Manager Les Snead. “It will be an honor to recognize Aaron on the very field where he sealed our Super Bowl win.”
It is not exaggeration to call Donald the franchise’s greatest player and one of the best defensive players in the history of football. He played 10 seasons in the NFL, all as a member of the Rams. In that time, he was named to 10 Pro Bowls, eight All-Pro teams — all First Team — and was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner.
He went to two Super Bowls with the Rams, winning Super Bowl LVI in Feb. 2022. Donald is only the second defensive tackle in NFL history to amass over 100 career sacks, with 111. He retired after the 2023 season while still at the height of his powers, a season in which he was named to the All-Pro First Team and the Pro Bowl while leading the Rams to a surprise playoff berth after an injury-riddled 2022 season.
Donald’s impact on the Rams organization is immeasurable, and it’s no surprise that the team is already planning a celebration for him, before him entering the Hall of Fame — which he will on his first ballot — or having his jersey retired by the franchise, another inevitability.
Aaron Donald teaches Jared Verse a lesson in weight room
Rams defensive end Jared Verse has never been one to shy away from talking smack, and to this point in his career he has backed it up after getting drafted in the first round and winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season.
Everyone meets their match eventually though, and it appears Verse has found his. The 24-year-old boldly called out Aaron Donald, wanting to get together for a workout to prove he is stronger than him in the weight room.
Anyone who knows Donald though knows that no one is stronger than him, even after retiring over a year ago. So naturally, Donald responded to Verse’s challenge and the two were able to get together for a workout. Unsurprisingly, things did not go well for Verse as he learned a valuable lesson to never call out the future Hall of Famer.
