Both teams have struggled on offense in the rain, so which team will pull away in the second half?
The Los Angeles Rams are tied with the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 3-3 after the first half of play. The rain has been falling hard through the first two quarters, so neither team taken off on the offensive side.
The 49ers opened the game up, but L.A.’s defense forced a three and out. The Rams then had the ball, but they too went three and out which set the 49ers up to take an initial 3-0 lead after their successful field goal.
L.A. wouldn’t earn a single first down in the first quarter as the Rams’ defense tried to keep S.F. in check.
The announcers at one point referred to this game as a “punt fest” and that is mostly what it has been. Matthew Stafford has missed receivers, while the Ram’s front four has been getting after Brock Purdy.
Joshua Karty finally got a chance to kick a field goal with under two minutes to go and he delivered to tie the game at 3-3.
There are still quarters three and four to go and perhaps one of these teams will start to pull away, but so far this contest looks like it will come down to the closing moments. There’s a chance it even goes to overtime if neither team gets anything going.
