Inside linebacker has never been a high-priority position for the Rams under Sean McVay. Yes, they signed Bobby Wagner in 2022, but they let him walk after just one season. That was partly because of the trust the Rams had in Ernest Jones as his successor in the middle of the defense, entrusting him to lead the way last season.
Jones rewarded Los Angeles’ faith with a fantastic 2023 campaign, continuing his rise entering the final year of his rookie contract. His presence should have the Rams feeling good about their linebacker group for 2024, but it’s never a bad idea to add some reinforcements.
Here’s a look at the inside linebacker unit heading into the offseason.
